Trial access to the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics Online and other 700 electronic books

SISSA users have free access – via IP recognition – to the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics Online (2008-2009 edition) via www.chemnetbase.com, to MATHnetBASE (a collection of 325 titles – monographs, handbooks, textbooks), PHYSICSnetBASE (275 titles), NEUROSCIENCEnetBASE (132 titles). You have access to all resources via www.crcnetbase.com. The trial expires on March 4, 2009.

Subscription to “Journal of Neuropsychology”

SISSA users have online access to a new journal, “Journal of Neuropsychology”,  http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/bpsoc/jnp , published by the British Psychological Society.

Wireless network available in the Library

A wireless network (Wi-Fi – 802.11b/g) is now available in the Library
area and in the lecture halls (auditorium, rooms A-E). The SISSA
wireless network is named “SISSA-WPA” and is accessible with WPA
encription and PAP over TLS authentication. A valid SISSA account is
required to connect. We are not planning to enable WEP encryption, due
to its intrinsic weakness.

This new wireless network will be extended soon to every area in the
SISSA Main Building and Extension, and at Bellavista Building.

If you have problems to use the new wireless network please contact the
Helpdesk Service (helpdesk@sissa.it). No support will be supplied for
wi-fi cards without WPA protocol.

Una rete wireless (Wi-Fi – 802.11b/g) è da oggi operativa nell’area

rete wireless è denominata “SISSA-WPA” ed è accessibile con protocollo
di criptazione WPA e autenticazione PAP su TLS. E’ richiesto un account
SISSA valido per connettersi. Non è prevista l’abilitazione del
criptaggio WEP, a causa della sua intrinseca debolezza agli attacchi
informatici.

Questa nuova rete wireless verrà estesa al più presto anche al Main
Building SISSA ed Estensione, e all’edificio Bellavista.

In caso di problemi nella connessione del laptop alla rete wireless si
prega di contattare il servizio di Helpdesk (helpdesk@sissa.it). Non

Convenzione con la ditta DEA per l’acquisto di libri italiani ed esteri

E’ attiva una convenzione con la ditta DEA per l’acquisto di libri italiani ed esteri da parte dei dipendenti (personale scientifico e amministrativo) e degli studenti e ricercatori afferenti alla S.I.S.S.A.  La convenzione per l’acquisto di libri tramite deastore.com prevede le seguenti condizioni:

- Libri stranieri in normale commercio: sconto 13%- Libri italiani in normale commercio: sconto 13% piu’ spese di spedizione (indicate di volta in volta). deastore.com mette a disposizione dei propri utenti uno dei più importanti cataloghi di libri stranieri in lingua inglese e italiana, con oltre 5.000.000 di titoli; è previsto il futuro inserimento del catalogo spagnolo, tedesco e francese.

Viene richiesto il pagamento con carta di credito o in contrassegno; l’utente potrà scegliere tra una spedizione via posta o via corriere.  Per poter usufruire immediatamente delle condizioni della convenzione è sufficiente collegarsi a questo indirizzo http://www.deastore.com/sissa  (per registrarsi, chiedere il CODICE alla Biblioteca – library@sissa.it )

La login di accesso (username e password) verrà inviata all’indirizzo e-mail registrato e dovrà essere utilizzata per usufruire delle condizioni della convenzione.

deastore.com presents over 5.000.000 titles in English and Italian language at the moment, but in future we will add the Spanish catalogue  as well the German and the French ones. The users can choose between the payment by credit card or cash by delivery, as well between the shipment by post or by courier.

For anyone of them the first step is to go to the url  http://www.deastore.com/sissa  and digit  his/her name, surname, e-mail address ( you need a code, ask the Library library@sissa.it )

He/she  will receive the login data (username and password) at the registered e-mail address. After this he/she can login (www.deastore.com/login)  and place an order at the granted conditions.
